Hi, I'm Chrissy

Hey there, tired parent. If you're here, you're probably looking for a person, not just a method. Fair enough. Let me introduce myself.

I'm a therapist, a mom of four, and someone who believes sleep is the thing that makes everything else feel manageable. (Anyone who's ever picked a fight because they were exhausted knows what I mean.) My job, whether I'm in a therapy room or helping a family through bedtime, is the same: give you good information, take the guilt out of it, and trust you to know your own child.

Here's the short version of who I am and why I do this.

Name: Chrissy Lawler (also listed as Christine Lawler)

Licensure: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Nevada. Regulated by the Nevada Board of Examiners for Marriage and Family Therapists and Clinical Professional Counselors

Education: MS, Brigham Young University

Clinical experience: 15+ years

Families helped: 400,000+ worldwide

Author of: The Peaceful Sleeper: An Intuitive Approach to Baby Sleep (Jossey-Bass, March 24, 2026), a USA TODAY best-selling book

Founder of: The Peaceful Sleeper

Based in: Las Vegas, Nevada

How a therapist ended up in baby sleep

I practiced therapy for over 15 years, and somewhere along the way I noticed a pattern. Whatever brought someone to my office, sleep was usually part of the story. Exhausted new parents. Couples snapping at each other. Kids who couldn't settle. Sleep kept showing up.

So I went deeper. I sought additional training in advanced sleep medicine and learned that many of the mental health challenges we (and our children) face today trace back to inadequate sleep. That changed how I worked.

I also saw how much unnecessary guilt parents carry. One expert says let them cry. Another says never let them cry. And you're left feeling like you're failing no matter what you choose. I wanted to build something different: a framework that's grounded in research and developmental psychology, flexible enough to fit your baby, and built around your instincts instead of against them. That became The Peaceful Sleeper.

My goal is simple. I want you to enjoy parenthood, not just endure it.

"We reject the guilt, judgment, and moralizing that plague parenting advice. Parents who seek the right tools will consistently make the right decisions for their children."

What I believe about sleep and parenting

  • You are the expert on your baby. My job is to give you tools, not to hand you rules.

  • Guilt isn't a parenting strategy. I reject the guilt, judgment, and moralizing that plague parenting advice. Parents who seek the right tools will consistently make the right decisions for their children.

  • The best results come in the middle. Not "ignore every cry" and not "rush to every whimper." A responsive, adaptable approach.

  • Your sleep matters too. A rested parent is a better parent. Looking after yourself isn't selfish. It's part of the plan.

You can see how this works in practice on The Peaceful Sleeper Method page, and the research behind it on The Science of Sleep Training.
